Commercially Available GM (Genetically Modified) Corn Varities with their Salient Traits

Here is a list of some of the commercially available genetically modified (GM) corn varieties, categorized by the traits they possess. This list includes popular GM corn products developed by various biotechnology companies:

Insect-Resistant Corn (Bt Corn)

  1. MON 810: Monsanto's Bt corn, expressing the Cry1Ab protein from Bacillus thuringiensis.
  2. Bt11: Syngenta's Bt corn, expressing the Cry1Ab protein.
  3. TC1507: Dow AgroSciences' Bt corn, expressing the Cry1F protein.
  4. MIR162: Syngenta's Bt corn, expressing the Vip3Aa20 protein.
  5. DAS-59122-7: Dow AgroSciences' Bt corn, expressing Cry34Ab1 and Cry35Ab1 proteins.

Herbicide-Tolerant Corn

  1. NK603: Monsanto's Roundup Ready corn, tolerant to glyphosate.
  2. GA21: Syngenta's glyphosate-tolerant corn.
  3. T25: Bayer's LibertyLink corn, tolerant to glufosinate.
  4. MON 88017: Monsanto's corn, tolerant to glyphosate and resistant to rootworm.
  5. MON 87427: Monsanto's glyphosate-tolerant corn.

Stacked Traits (Insect Resistance + Herbicide Tolerance)

  1. SmartStax: Dow AgroSciences and Monsanto's corn with multiple Bt proteins (Cry1A.105, Cry2Ab2, Cry1F, Cry3Bb1, Cry34Ab1, and Cry35Ab1) and tolerance to glyphosate and glufosinate.
  2. Agrisure Duracade 5222: Syngenta's corn with Cry1Ab, Vip3Aa20, Cry34Ab1, Cry35Ab1, and mCry3A proteins, and tolerance to glyphosate.
  3. VT Double PRO: Monsanto's corn with Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 proteins, and glyphosate tolerance.
  4. Agrisure Viptera 3111: Syngenta's corn with Cry1Ab, Vip3Aa20, mCry3A proteins, and tolerance to glyphosate and glufosinate.
  5. YieldGard VT Triple: Monsanto's corn with Cry1A.105, Cry2Ab2 proteins, and glyphosate tolerance.

Drought-Tolerant Corn

  1. MON 87460: Monsanto's DroughtGard corn, designed to improve water use efficiency under drought conditions.

Other Traits

  1. LY038: Monsanto's corn, engineered to have increased lysine content for improved nutritional value.

This list is not exhaustive but includes many of the major GM corn varieties that have been developed and commercialized by leading biotechnology companies. Each of these GM corn varieties has undergone extensive testing and regulatory approval processes to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
